Sunday 29 July sees Round 5 of the WA Gravity Enduro Series at the Meelup and Dunsborough & Districts Country Club trails! Gravity enduro is a fun and social racing format anyone can enjoy, from the elite to weekend warriors to first-timers and juniors. With the race village based at the Country Club in the heart of Dunsborough providing ample opportunity for refreshments and socialising, this is a very accessible event - if you've ever wanted to give a gravity enduro a go, now's the perfect time.
It's also a great sport to watch - even if you’re not competing it’ll be worth marking the date and heading up into the hills to spectate and heckle as hard as you can. And if you're not racing but would like to get involved, we'll likely be putting out a call for volunteers (course marshals etc) closer to the date - keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates.
Learn more and get your race registrations in at the WAGE website.
Join Margaret River Off Road Cycling Association (MRORCA), Cape Mountain Bikers and Dunsborough Cycling Club in this years gravity Interclub Summer Series.
Race for your club (or pride, or bragging rights, or just for fun) on timed downhill runs every Tuesday evening starting the 9th of January. The venue alternates between Margaret River and Dunsborough, entry is by gold coin donation, and post-event drinks and socialising are advised :) Interested? Check out the Facebook event page for details and registration info!
The CMB/DDCC riders ended up taking the Interclub Summer Series trophy on combined points :) Thanks to everyone involved, and massive thanks to MRORCA for inviting us to come and play; it was an absolute blast and we can't wait for next year! The trophy (thanks Mitch!) is now residing in the neutral territory of Rex and Nick's new Humble Bicycle Co premises in Vasse.
Well, that went quickly - after almost a decade of preparation and paperwork, and a mere couple of weeks of building, the new Meelup trails are open! They're still fresh and signage isn't in place yet, so please check stuff out before you hit it, and remember to ride within your abilities :)
A huge thank you has to go out to all the crew that started this process so so long ago and all the planners, builders and helpers who got us to where we are now. A big shout-out to Ivan Svenson and Shane Williams from the Trailbuilders (new website coming soon apparently), Andrew Spencer-Wright, Pete Battye, Jayson Faulkner, Mitch Monotti and Roman Vock plus all the volunteers who helped out on the recent build days.
It's not over yet - we have more upgrades planned for the coming months, including 2 new descents, so stay tuned!
As part of the Mental Health Week 50 year celebrations, Enable WA, Cape Mountain Bikers, the South West Mountain Bike Club and the Secret Whicher Cult would like to invite the wider mountain biking community to join them on another Chase the Thylacine ride.
In 2017, Mental Health Week will celebrate its 50th year of promoting mental health awareness and helping reduce the stigma that is commonly associated with mental health conditions in WA. What better way to celebrate and mark the occasion than by riding 100 miles over 2 days? This classic spring event, which began in 2010, originally took riders from the Secret Whicher Trails near Busselton to Nannup and back again. The ride now begins at the iconic Busselton Jetty and takes riders on a 100 mile epic to Nannup for an overnight stop before returning the following day.
Learn more and get involved at the Facebook Event page and the Mental Health Week event page.
Brought to you by the Dunsborough & Districts Country Club and Margaret River Off Road Cycling Association, the Down South Mountain Bike Festival will see 3 days of action including Round 4 and Round 5 of the State XCO Series, as well as coaching clinics, family rides and kids events.
