Rep your club in style and support a good cause (our trails)! We're getting a new run of t-shirts and a cap for 2019 - so that we can order the right amount and in the right sizes, we're asking you to pre-order by March 25. No payment required yet - once we close the pre-orders we'll get production going, and will contact you when they're ready to collect (pay on pickup). Pre-orders have now closed - thanks all! Check the FAQs on the shirt preorder page for what happens next, or get in touch if you have any questions. Back by popular demand - race for your club (or pride, or bragging rights, or just for fun) in 5 rounds of timed downhills followed by the Humble South West Championship (2 timed runs on Marg's most iconic trail, with time credits for costume). Held on Thursday afternoons, the venue alternates between Margaret River and Dunsborough. Entry is by gold coin donation - registration check-in closes 5:45pm, racing starts at 6pm. Post-event socialising is advised :)

Thanks to the recent grant from the City of Busselton and Lotterywest, trail works are currently underway on the Meelup trails. Consisting of 3 new trails linking the intersection near the start of Mr Mansfield's Old School down into the DDCC's Mavericks and Firey's trails, please keep an eye out for our trail crew (Ivan from The Trail Builders, club president Andrew and volunteers), and respect any 'trail closed' signage.
Our trail maintenance coordinator Patrick and volunteers have also undertaken a few modifications and cleanup of some existing trails (especially Happy Myles), so keep an eye out for changes and if you see something unfamiliar, check it out first before hitting it full bore :) Exciting news! With our friends at Humble Bike Co and Shimano, we're holding a fundraising viewing of the movie 'The Moment' by Darcy Turenne, with all proceeds going to the club - and our trails! Woohoo!
We recently applied for and received a grant via the City of Busselton and Lotterywest to help fund our next trail building project - 3 new trails at Meelup linking the intersection near the start of Mr Mansfields Old School down into the DDCC's Mavericks and Firey's trails. Aside from providing more trails (always a good thing!), this will improve the integration of our Meelup trails and the DDCC trails. Obviously a huge thanks is due to the City of Busselton and Lotterywest, as well as to all involved in organising the grant. Getting funding is just the start - the project will be a joint collaboration between volunteers from the CMB and the Trail Builders. Watch this space! THANK YOU TO...
Hosted by our fellow riders of the Peel District Mountain Mountain Bike Club, the 2018 WA Downhill State Championships will be held at the Wellington Mill tracks on the 8th and 9th of September. Long a cornerstone of the WA downhill scene, having the Champs at the Welli Mills trails promises a fun weekend.
Visit the Facebook Event page for more information and registration details. It's on again! The Cape Mountain Bikers with agreement from the Secret Whicher Cult would like to invite the wider mountain biking community to join them on another Chase the Thylacine ride. This is a no cost event - there is no entry fee and we are not raising money for any cause. We are however promoting mental health week with a focus on where we live, learn, work and play.
This classic spring event, which began in 2010, originally took riders from the Secret Whicher Trails near Busselton to Nannup and back again. The 2018 ride will begin at the iconic Busselton Jetty and takes riders on a 100-mile epic to Nannup for an overnight stop before returning the following day. All riders will be required to ride with a partner or as part of a group. For those individuals not wishing to ride the entire course, the ride can be done in relay style, with designated change over points along the course. Read more below, or visit the Facebook Event page for more information. Round 5 is done and dusted. Congratulations to all who participated, and a big thanks to all the WAGE crew, the volunteers, and the DDCC for an awesome day. Results are available here - our trails saw a massive turn-out of riders and good conditions on race day; we were especially lucky in that regard, given all the recent storms :)
The CMB fundraising gourmet sausage sizzle, kindly organised by Regina and Roman from Ride Local, was kept super busy - thanks to all who helped out (especially Regina, Michelle, Donna, Katherine, Pascal, Thorben and Luca) and thanks to everyone who dropped by for a (gourmet!) feed! |
