Trail closure notice: planned burn in Meelup Regional Park

19/9/2020

Meelup Regional Park has a burn planned to take place within a 2 week window beginning 15th October. Meelup trails will be closed from then, and will remain closed until we get the all-clear (and do any necessary trail repairs). Please help out by respecting all signage and directions from fireys, rangers, City staff or trail builders.

New trails underway at Meelup

12/10/2018

Thanks to the recent grant from the City of Busselton and Lotterywest, trail works are currently underway on the Meelup trails. Consisting of 3 new trails linking the intersection near the start of Mr Mansfield's Old School down into the DDCC's Mavericks and Firey's trails, please keep an eye out for our trail crew (Ivan from The Trail Builders, club president Andrew and volunteers), and respect any 'trail closed' signage.

Our trail maintenance coordinator Patrick and volunteers have also undertaken a few modifications and cleanup of some existing trails (especially Happy Myles), so keep an eye out for changes and if you see something unfamiliar, check it out first before hitting it full bore :)

Firey's reworked

23/11/2017

It continues! The Dunsborough & Districts Country Club flagship trail Firey's Descent has now been reworked.

Firey's Descent has long been a local favourite, featuring high-speed turns, jumps and spectacular views. Plus more than a few roos. It also serves as a connecting trail between the Meelup trails and those of the DDCC, and there is now a push within both CMB and DDCC to continue to improve the conductivity of the two trail systems to better complement each other.

Huge thanks to CMB's Andrew Spencer-Wright, The Trail Builder's Ivan Svenson, and the DDCC's Chris Parkinson, Mike Longman, and Anthony and Helen Baker.

New Meelup trails are now open!

27/6/2017

Well, that went quickly - after almost a decade of preparation and paperwork, and a mere couple of weeks of building, the new Meelup trails are open! They're still fresh and signage isn't in place yet, so please check stuff out before you hit it, and remember to ride within your abilities :)

A huge thank you has to go out to all the crew that started this process so so long ago and all the planners, builders and helpers who got us to where we are now. A big shout-out to Ivan Svenson and Shane Williams from the Trailbuilders (new website coming soon apparently), Andrew Spencer-Wright, Pete Battye, Jayson Faulkner, Mitch Monotti and Roman Vock plus all the volunteers who helped out on the recent build days.

It's not over yet - we have more upgrades planned for the coming months, including 2 new descents, so stay tuned!

And so it begins ... Meelup trail work commences!

30/5/2017

Shovels and machinery are hitting dirt, and the Meelup trails are getting a long-overdue upgrade and makeover!

It's been a long road and we owe a massive thanks to the original CMB founders that fought so long and hard for this: Myles, Mike, Simon, Andrew, David, Jayson and more. The upgrades are being undertaken by the The Trail Builders, along with a small crew of locals, and are scheduled to last about a month. Watch this space!
