It's on this weekend! Round 5 of the WA Gravity Enduro series will take place this Sunday July 29. The trails are prepped and course maps are available - head on over to the WAGE event page to get detailed maps and last-minute info. With 5 race stages spread across both Meelup and DDCC trails, and the race village based at the Country Club, it should be a great day for both riders and spectators. Wishing everyone an awesome day - stay safe and enjoy it!
Saturday 2nd June and Sunday 3rd June saw the Down South MTB Festival return to Dunsborough and Margaret River. Split between the 2 venues, the festival celebrates mountain biking in the South West, offering two 2 days of competitive and recreational mountain bike events. This year it included the XCO WAMBA 2018 State Series Round 3 (Saturday 2nd) and XCO WAMBA 2018 State Series Round 4 (Sunday 3rd), as well as coaching clinics, fun events and team relays.
A huge thanks to all the participants, competitors, coaches, volunteers and spectators - see you all again next year! For more on the festival and to link to the results, see the event website at http://www.downsouthmtbfestival.org.au. Sunday 29 July sees Round 5 of the WA Gravity Enduro Series at the Meelup and Dunsborough & Districts Country Club trails! Gravity enduro is a fun and social racing format anyone can enjoy, from the elite to weekend warriors to first-timers and juniors. With the race village based at the Country Club in the heart of Dunsborough providing ample opportunity for refreshments and socialising, this is a very accessible event - if you've ever wanted to give a gravity enduro a go, now's the perfect time.
It's also a great sport to watch - even if you’re not competing it’ll be worth marking the date and heading up into the hills to spectate and heckle as hard as you can. And if you're not racing but would like to get involved, we'll likely be putting out a call for volunteers (course marshals etc) closer to the date - keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates. Learn more and get your race registrations in at the WAGE website. A big thank you and shout-out to The Bike Shed, The TrailBuilders (website coming soon) and InsCap for being first to the party and adopting a Meelup trail! Help us by supporting them. For more information on our 'Adopt a trail' program and to find out how to participate, see our Sponsors page.
Billed as a 'race through paradise', Australia's largest off-road triathlon is back this weekend and once again includes a combination of the Meelup and Dunsborough & Districts Country Club trails. Good luck to all the competitors, have fun, enjoy the event and stay safe!
Well, that went quickly - after almost a decade of preparation and paperwork, and a mere couple of weeks of building, the new Meelup trails are open! They're still fresh and signage isn't in place yet, so please check stuff out before you hit it, and remember to ride within your abilities :)
A huge thank you has to go out to all the crew that started this process so so long ago and all the planners, builders and helpers who got us to where we are now. A big shout-out to Ivan Svenson and Shane Williams from the Trailbuilders (new website coming soon apparently), Andrew Spencer-Wright, Pete Battye, Jayson Faulkner, Mitch Monotti and Roman Vock plus all the volunteers who helped out on the recent build days. It's not over yet - we have more upgrades planned for the coming months, including 2 new descents, so stay tuned!
